The Sopranos was a famous TV show about crime. It ran on HBO for six seasons. Twenty years ago, the show took a big risk. In the final season, Tony got shot. His uncle Junior shot him by mistake. Tony fell into a deep sleep called a coma.

While Tony was in the hospital, he had dreams. In his dreams, he was a different person. He was a salesman from Arizona. He did not have his normal voice. The show spent two full episodes on this. Some fans loved it but many did not.

People say a show "jumps the shark" when it goes bad. This means the writers run out of good ideas. The Sopranos almost jumped the shark here. But the writers were very skilled. They saved the show and it stayed great.
