Editorial Policy

Content Creation Process

Every article published on Flalingo Daily News follows a structured editorial workflow:

  1. Topic Selection — Current news topics are identified based on relevance, educational value, and suitability for English learners.
  2. AI-Assisted Generation — Articles are drafted with the assistance of AI language models, which adapt the content to a target CEFR difficulty level and generate accompanying vocabulary, comprehension quizzes, and discussion questions.
  3. Editorial Review — Each article is reviewed by our editorial team for factual accuracy, language quality, level-appropriateness, and pedagogical value before it is approved for publication.
  4. Publication — Approved articles are published with full metadata including level, segment, source attribution, and author credit.

CEFR Level Grading

Articles are graded on a 1-10 scale aligned with the Common European Framework of Reference for Languages (CEFR):

  • Levels 1-2 (A1-A2) — Beginner: simple vocabulary, short sentences, familiar topics
  • Levels 3-4 (A2-B1) — Elementary to Pre-Intermediate: broader vocabulary, compound sentences
  • Levels 5-6 (B1-B2) — Intermediate: complex ideas, varied sentence structures
  • Levels 7-8 (B2-C1) — Advanced: nuanced language, abstract topics, idiomatic expressions
  • Levels 9-10 (C1-C2) — Proficient: sophisticated vocabulary, complex argumentation, near-native reading

Grading takes into account vocabulary complexity, sentence length, grammatical structures, and topic abstraction. AI tools assist in maintaining consistent level standards across all articles.

Source Attribution

When articles are based on or inspired by external news sources, we provide clear attribution including the source name and, where available, a link to the original reporting. Our articles are educational adaptations — not reproductions — of the original content.

Corrections and Updates

We are committed to accuracy. If an error is identified in a published article — whether factual, linguistic, or in the exercises — we will correct it promptly. Significant corrections are noted with an updated publication date. Readers can report errors or suggest corrections by contacting us via our Contact page.

Editorial Independence

Flalingo Daily News operates with editorial independence. Content decisions — including topic selection, level grading, and publication — are made by our editorial team based on educational merit and learner relevance. Our parent company, Flalingo, does not influence editorial decisions. The goal of every article is to help English learners improve their skills, not to promote any product or agenda.

AI Transparency

We use AI tools as part of our content creation pipeline. This includes article drafting, vocabulary extraction, quiz generation, and level adaptation. All AI-generated content is reviewed and approved by human editors before publication. We believe in transparency about our use of AI and are committed to maintaining high editorial standards regardless of the tools used in the process.
