Kayseri, a city in central Turkey, has just opened an exciting new restaurant. It is called Mülhem Kayseri Mutfağı, and it sits inside the historic Kayseri Castle. The word "mülhem" means "inspiring" in Turkish. Mayor Memduh Büyükkılıç said the venue combines history, culture, and gastronomy. He explained that the goal was to showcase the city's rich food heritage.
The restaurant can seat around 170 guests in different sections. It serves traditional Kayseri dishes at affordable prices for everyone. Visitors can enjoy famous local foods like mantı, pastırma, and sucuk. Mantı are tiny meat-filled dumplings served with yogurt and butter. Pastırma is air-dried beef covered in a special spice paste.
Kayseri has been recognized by UNESCO as a Creative City of Gastronomy. The city's cuisine reflects centuries of cultural exchange from many civilizations. It was once an important stop on the ancient Silk Road. If more cities preserved their food traditions this way, local cultures would thrive. The restaurant also promotes 32 products that have official geographic certification.
The opening was timed to welcome summer visitors returning to their hometown. Officials reported that the historic castle area was carefully restored for this project. The mayor emphasized that the venue would represent the true identity of Kayseri. Food tourism is growing worldwide, and cities are competing to attract visitors. This inspiring new space could help Kayseri become a top destination for food lovers.
