In an incredible rescue, two workers were pulled alive from a hydropower tunnel in Nepal. They had been trapped inside the Trishuli 3A tunnel for nine days. A catastrophic glacier collapse on August 26 triggered massive flash floods across Nepal. The floods buried tunnels in thick mud and destroyed entire villages along the river.
Rescue teams had been working day and night to reach the trapped workers. Heavy machinery was used to clear enormous amounts of debris from the tunnel entrance.
