Imagine you have two rabbits in January. One is a boy and one is a girl. Baby rabbits are born about 30 days later. Each group of babies can have six bunnies! The mother can have babies every month.
Baby rabbits grow up very fast. They can have their own babies at three months old! So the babies start having babies too. The rabbit family gets bigger and bigger. By the end of the year, there could be over one thousand rabbits!
That is why people say "breed like rabbits!" Rabbits are amazing at growing their families. In nature, many baby rabbits do not survive. Food and weather keep the numbers smaller. But the math is still incredible!
