Look up at the sky tonight! Something amazing is happening. Bright shooting stars are falling! This is the Perseid meteor shower. It happens every August. You can see many bright lights in the sky.
The shooting stars come from a comet. The comet is called Swift-Tuttle. It leaves tiny pieces of dust in space. When Earth moves through this dust, it burns up. The burning dust makes bright streaks of light!
You do not need a telescope to watch. Just find a dark place away from city lights. Look up and wait! This year, the moon is very dark. So the sky will be extra clear. You can see up to 100 meteors per hour!
